Description
Ecuadorian Shade Fronto Leaf – An air cured tobacco leaf grown in Ecuador.
Ecuadorian Shade Wrappers are renowned for their delicate, mild character, and are highly esteemed as exquisite wrapper leaves within the cigar manufacturing realm.
Despite appearing smaller in the picture, these leaves are actually much larger; the illusion of compactness is created by fanning out the hands. Arriving tied in traditional bundles, these leaves should undergo the same processing as any other tobacco leaf wrapper. They are cultivated from the Habano 2000 seed. It’s worth noting that shade-grown wrapper tobacco, such as Ecuadorian Shade Wrappers, is typically more delicate compared to sun-grown varieties like Maduros and Oscuros, requiring careful handling.
One fascinating aspect of these leaves is their method of cultivation known as “cloud growing,” as opposed to the typical shade tents used elsewhere, such as in Connecticut. Situated in the mountainous foothills of Ecuador, where the region experiences nearly constant cloud coverage, the diffused light mimics the effect of a traditional cheesecloth shade tent.
**Fronto Tip 101**
- Get a piece of paper towel and make it damp (Not Soaked Just Damp). Throw it in a sealed bag with your leaf and let it sit for the night. Then in the morning, your Fronto Leaf should be as good as new and ready for rolling.
