Grabba Leaf

Jamaican Grabba/Fronto tobacco leaf, Also known as The Dark Fire Cured & Dark Air Cured, or Fanta Leaf. These natural tobacco leaves sold by the individual leaf or by the pound. Customers who often smoke these types of leaves, also refer to it as blend, or mix. With Grabba and other similar products, the leaves processed by air or fire curation, then aged to perfection. Some tobacco leaves, harvested and cured specifically for smoking. While other leaves which tend to have a thicker, meatier texture are usually used as rolling/wrapper leaves. Sometimes crushed for the purpose of creating a custom blend with other choice tobacco products.

Tobacco farmers refer to the drying of the leaf as curing and the tobacco barn design varies accordingly.

Air-cured Tobacco Leaves
The Air-cured process, done by hanging tobacco in a well-ventilated barn. The tobacco must dry over a period of four to eight weeks. It is generally low in sugar content, which gives the tobacco smoke a light, smooth, semi- sweet flavor. These tobacco leaves usually have a high nicotine content

Flue-cured Tobacco Leaves
Flue-cured tobacco, started by stringing the tobacco into tobacco sticks, hung from tier-poles in a curing barn “kilns”. All flue-cured barns have flues which run from external fed fire boxes. Heat-cures the tobacco without exposing it to smoke, slowly raising the temperature over the course of the curing process. The procedure will generally take about a week.

Grabba has been around for centuries, but the name really took effect and started gaining notoriety by two Jamaican artist. Vybz Kartel & Popcaan, with the hit song “Hotgrabba” back in 2010. Ever since then Grabba has never left, and is gaining more followers daily.
