“Hot Grabba Canada leaf; Grabba leaf, HotGrabbz; Red Herring Grabba; Red Rose Grabba; GRABBA…. All of these products naturally contain nicotine, with no extra additives or chemicals. (Nicotine contains the highly addictive stimulant alkaloid nicotine as well as harmala alkaloids).
These are all the terms that refer to the dark thick, filler or wrapper grade of tobacco leaf… Popularity with each leaf varies in Jamaica and on other Caribbean islands. Thinner wrapper leaves are more popular in the USA and Canada. However the darker leaves are now starting to gain a lot of popularity thanks to HotGrabbz, with their introduction in 2014.
Grabba or Hot Grabba in the Urban dictionary is described as; “A Jamaican term used to describe something mixed with marijuana when smoked. So as to keep the sent down and to get rid of the bad aftertaste.” This is accurate, however, I just don’t like the word something, (because something can be anything). So yes; It is a Jamaican term and the term is used to describe a dark thick natural tobacco leaf. When used it’s crushed up and mixed with marijuana.
The Hot Grabba Leaf is available in different strengths and tastes. A dark fire cured Grabba leaf will have a leathery thick texture and a powerful Bond fire smoke smell. This is due to the curing process. It’s also a popular chewing tobacco in some countries such as Sri Lanka. Where they sell more smokeless tobacco, because they love the flavor and tastes.
When it comes to the Light Fire Cured (Light Herring). It too Fire Cured, but not for long, like the Red Herring Grabba. The strength and smell of the light herring grabba isn’t as strong as the fire cured, but will be somewhat similar in flavor. Light Herring Grabba leaves; often crushed and blended by cigar rollers with other varieties of raw leaf to create a custom flavor cigar.
The Dark Air cured (Red Rose) varieties tend to be much harsher when smoked. It’s not as potent in smell as the Red Herring when directly faced with it. Only because Red Rose does not go through the same process as the red herring. It’s air cured, which means it is hung dry and has a less distinct smell.
The Best Blend
When using the Hot Grabba Leaf, you are getting a better quality tobacco. Unlike cigarettes; (599 chemicals in one stick) which most people use for blend with marijuana. Grabba Is 100% natural, and does not have any additives, chemicals, or preservatives. Which in turn gives it the possibilities to mold when left moist and in a dark space for too long.
Aged tobacco leaves tend to burn better, but most people that use Hot Grabba dry it out, and sprinkle it a little on top of their spliff. Giving it that balanced flavor and kick, making it a great choice for blending.
